It is one of the largest forts in India and also called as “the Golden Fort”. It was constructed by Rawal Jaisal in 1156. This fort is one of the most well known landmarks of Jaisalmer and situated in the heart of the city. It is listed as UNESCO world heritage site.

It is an artificial lake firstly built by the first ruler of Jaisalmer, Rawal Jaisal Singh and later Maharaja Garisisar Singh revamped and rebuilt the lake. It is encircled by several temples and during the winter season, different types of migratory birds flock here.

It is around 42 km away from Jaisalmer and recommended as the best place to enjoy camel safari. At the time of sunset, you can enjoy bonfire activities and stay overnight in a tent.
